The Taking Sides Study

Informed Consent

Objective and Framework

We are conducting a research study to examine attitudes toward the frequency of various behaviors. This study is carried out within the framework of a research project in the Department of Philosophy I of the University of Granada.

Procedure

Participation in this study involves completing a questionnaire. The questionnaire will consist of 60 actions that you will be asked to evaluate. Finally, we are going to ask you some things about yourself (such as your gender or if you are a student). We anticipate that your involvement will require approximately 7 minutes.

Potential Risks and Benefits

You will be paid for your participation. Although your participation does not benefit you directly, we do expect that the results obtained will advance knowledge about certain processes of social behavior that will be beneficial to the research community.

Use and Purpose of Study Data

The data collected in this study will be used to corroborate hypotheses in the framework of academic research. Statistics may subsequently form part of scientific publications (articles in scientific journals subject to peer review) or informative (informative articles in open access publications).

Voluntary Participation

Participation in this study is strictly voluntary. You are free to refuse to collaborate in this online study, as well as to leave it at any time and for any reason without incurring any penalty or forfeiture of any of the rights set forth in this information sheet.

Confidentiality and Data Protection

Your identity and the answers provided will be completely confidential and used exclusively for purposes associated with the academic research carried out by Daniel Martin, Ivar Rodríguez Hannikainen, and Kevin Tobia. If you have any questions about this study, you may contact Daniel Martin at damartin@ugr.es. As an indirect identifying variable, only the IP address of the computer from which the questionnaire is answered will be extracted. This information will be disassociated and subsequently deleted, thus completely anonymizing the responses as established in the Organic Law 3/2018 of Personal Data Protection and Guarantee of Digital Rights. Therefore, your data will be anonymized and will only be part of the statistics that we will derive from the study.
